SPOTLIGHT:

• The CAA is in Asia! Join fellow alumni, newly admitted and current students, and University administrators for a series of special events in Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. 

  Amber Miller, dean of Sciences, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences will be in Shanghai, and Mary Boyce, dean of Engineering and Morris A. and Alma Schapiro Professor at The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) will be joining us in Hong Kong.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

• Columbia University has created the Sakıp Sabancı Chair and Center for Turkish Studies, the first such center in the United States. Established with a $10 million gift and named for its benefactor, a Turkish businessman and philanthropist, the goal of the center and the professorship is to increase knowledge and awareness about Turkey.
  
  

• Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) announced that its new, state-of-the-art medical and graduate education building will be named the Roy and Diana Vagelos Education Center. The building, dedicated last night on the CUMC campus in Northern Manhattan, will be officially open and in use in August 2016.
  
  
  
  
• On June 16, Columbia alumni celebrated the work of School of the Arts filmmakers in Los Angeles at the Columbia University Film Festival. Learn more about the festival here.

• When it comes to Broadway, Columbia alumni have contributed much to theater. Rodgers and Hammerstein '16CC set the musical standard during Broadway's golden age.
